Scott Robertson – The Good, The Bad and The Free
29 Aug - 30 Sept 10.30am - 5.30pm : Outdoor SpacesRobertson’s work, located at the top and bottom of the West Hill Lift, deals with issues of right or wrong and the rewards that are offered for being successful at both. Kind acts and good people taking their moral rewards against the celebrated criminal acts rewarded by respect and fear.
The West Hill Lift represents the journey between Heaven and Hell, Good and Bad. The public will contribute to this intervention by completing questionnaires which disclose their kindest or worst actions. The artist will select two ‘winners’ who will receive either a visual trophy of good – The Halo or bad – The Trident.
Hugh Davies – Sea Glimpse
29 Aug- 30 Sept Anytime : Outdoor SpacesThrough the installation of two polycarbonate mirrors, Davies introduces a ‘sea glimpse’ into a part of the public space that is otherwise hidden from the sea. The centre’s of the old and new towns of Hastings are characterized by their snatches of sea view, caught, and framed by the buildings and streets. The most fleeting sea glimpse is acknowledged. Using the viewer’s interaction with mirrors to transfer, edit and look outward, ‘sea glimpse’ reveals the sea from within a sunken garden.
