Periplum: The Bell
Alexandra Park, Hastings
Friday 31 August 9pm
FREE event - space limited to 1500 spectators
This is a major new outdoor production from visual theatre specialists Periplum, working with internationally acclaimed pyrotechnicians, The World Famous.
The Bell tells the story of a town terrorised & razed in flames by invading forces.
When the survivors emerge from the smouldering debris they decide to rebuild their land rather than flee from the threat of a new attack. The creation of a bell becomes the focus of the people’s hope and a celebration of life through communal struggle.
Taking inspiration from the visceral force of Andrei Rublev by the great Russian film-maker Tarkovsky, The Bell is a new co-commission from Hastings Borough Council, the National Theatre and Winchester Hat Fair.
